A new Dungeon Defenders means more heroes, more towers, and more loot. Dungeon Defenders 2 has recently entered pre-alpha and, in doing so, has released some preeeetty interesting new content. First of all, the game is going to be free-to-play and have a MOBA gameplay mode. Mind. Blown.
In the case of Dungeon Defender 2, free-to-play does not mean pay-to-win. While the details are still being ironed out, we do know microtransactions will exist in this title. You can sleep easy knowing those who pay won’t become over-powered hose beasts though; no one wants that.
While DD2 will still have the classic DD action you’ve come to know and love, there will also be a new Multiplayer Online Battle Arena mode. Other MOBA games include the popular League of Legends and DOTA2. I’m foreseeing some lanes, characters with different kits, some towers, and team-based gameplay – what isn’t there to like? As a MOBA fan, this can only make the game better.
So in conclusion – more is better. And more for free is ideal. Check out Dungeon Defenders 2 at PAX East in a few days — we sure will.
