Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara compilation features improved multiplayer

Two Dungeons & Dragons games are making their way from the arcades to your living room.

Capcom announced Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara today, a compilation that contains remastered forms of Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara, which released in the early to mid-nineties. They also both came to the Sega Saturn, but out of the two, only the port of Shadow over Mystara completed the trip to North America.

The games are beat-em-up adaptations of Wizards of the Coast's pen-and-paper role-playing games. Chronicles of Mystara features HD graphics and other enhancements. It's releasing in June for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC and will cost $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points. Chicago-based studio Iron Galaxy, which recently worked on Darkstalkers Resurrection, is developing the modern versions for Capcom.

Chronicles of Mystara supports drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer for up to four people online. Another interesting component is the Character Visualizer, which facilitates a balanced experience by tracking which characters players use most and least. In addition, the Challenge system sets in-game goals that players can meet in exchange for level-ups and coins for the Vault, which houses unlockables and other rewards.

Iron Galaxy has also tailored the game for Wii U. Owners of the console can use the GamePad to choose spells and items more easily via the touch screen.
