Dwayne Johnson, also known lovingly as "The Rock", has a busy 2017 ahead of him. With movies like Baywatch, The Fate of the Furious, and Jumanji, his calendar must be busting at the seams, much like his muscles. But he's not quite done penciling in more work, as shooting for Rampage begins in April.
On his Instagram, Johnson revealed the start date of production and gathered with the director, producers, and writers to go through the script together. In the post, he stressed how important his audience is to the movies he makes. "My fave moment from this merciless six hour meeting was when I shared with this group that there's an equity and trust I've built with my audience that they trust me to take them on an epic ride, and [we] always do our best to send them home happy.
"[It was] very cool moment to see everyone's eyes light and heads start to nod. To win on any level you gotta have teamwork and collaboration and can't thank everyone enough in this room for their energy and focus. More to come. Start shooting this April."
He has also talked about what character he will be playing in the movie: "Next stop for me in my research–the primate division at the Atlanta Zoo (my character's a Primatologist and head of an anti poaching unit in Rwanda). [He's a] really informative and educational character to play."
Our hopes that he would be one of the monsters may be dashed, but at least the movie is being made with such care.
Brad Peyton (San Andreas) is directing Rampage. He has said the movie might be "surprising" and that "It's going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier, and a lot more real than you'd expect."
