E3 2013: Super Smash Bros. on Wii U/3DS gets new characters and stages

As promised, Nintendo showed off the first trailer for the new Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS. The lenghty trailer was a mix of CG and gameplay, but revealed the addition of new characters and stages, as well as the return of past favorites.

The most exciting character joining the roster is easily Mega Man, who will debut in his classic "Blue Bomber" outfit, complete with mega Buster, numerous Robot Master abilities, and his trusty dog, Rush.

He wasn't the only new character revealed, however. The opening trailer highlighted "The Villager" from Animal Crossing. This character appears to dig pits to trap his enemies and chop down trees to damage them. Both Mega Man and The Villager will be accompanied by stages of their respective franchise.

In additon to these two new characters, the trailer also confirmed the retun of several classic characters, including Mario, Samus Aran, Fox McCloud, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Pit, Bowser and Princess Peach. Stages revealed included the classic Battlefield location, a level set on the train from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Mega Man's Dr. Wily Stage, an Animal Crossing location, Skyloft from Skyward Sword, a stage that looks be set in Kakariko Village from Twilight Princess, a Nintendogs level, and more.

Super Smash Bros. will arrive on Wii U and 3DS in 2014.
