E3 2014: Criterion’s next game goes ‘beyond cars’

True to last week’s update, Criterion Games today revealed their next project: a multi-vehicle, first-person action game.

Shown early in EA’s press conference, the unnamed, fledgling title takes players “beyond cars” into a first-person experience that smacks more of action stunts than racing. The footage shown today was of a very early prototype and included shots of everything from ATVs to helicopters to flight suits.

Criterion devs said that the new game was inspired by the first-person action footage that athletes and daredevils have been posting online, and that it seeks to capture that immersive quality. Unsurprisingly, no release date was given, only the promise that “this is gonna be the biggest game Criterion’s ever made.”
