E3 2014: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate looks stunning in its new trailer

Nintendo today released a new trailer for Monster Hunter Ultimate 4, shortly after the company’s E3 digital event.

The trailer shows the giant beasties and colossal weaponry that keeps fans coming back to the series, in addition to the over-the-top weaponry that has become an icon of the franchise. New species and weapon classes will be available in the game, with quests and locales to match.

Co-op play is given its share of the limelight as well, although the game has not yet been confirmed to offer online multiplayer.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was limited to local multiplayer on 3DS while only the Wii U version allowed players to connect online, so it’s reasonable to expect 4 to do the same. The potential lack of online play is disappointing, but at the very least, Monster Hunter fans will once again have a reason to fight on the couch.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will release in 2015 for 3DS.
