At the end of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament, Reggie Fils-Aime hinted that this may not be a one and done thing.
He said that the turnout exceeded Nintendo's expectations and that we may be seeing more Invitationals in the future. Other locations were mentioned at a possibility, but bringing the event to a major industry show such as E3 seems like it would be the best idea in practice.
For what it's worth, the turnout for the Super Smash Bros. Invitational seemed to be pretty successful. A fevorous crowd watched live in the Nokia Theater, while over 150,000 people tuned into the finals on Twitch.TV.
Hats off for a job well done, Nintendo.
