Two more Xbox One exclusive games have joined Quantum Break in making a Gamescom appearance instead of an E3 appearance. The trio will be skipping out on E3 because Microsoft's lineup is too "jam-packed."
In the beginning of April, Quantum Break was delayed from a 2015 release to a 2016 for a similar reason. According to Microsoft's head of publishing, “With so many games launching this year, moving Quantum Break to 2016 extends our incredible portfolio into next year with a monster new IP.”
When it comes to this year's E3, Microsoft has so much going on between their new partnership with Oculus, the coming release of Windows 10 and new Xbox One games, that Gamescom has become E3's drip-pan.
Phil Spencer took to the Xbox News Wire to explain what was to come "beyond" E3:
"Having a jam-packed lineup of games to show at E3 means that there simply isn’t enough time to give each of our upcoming titles its well-deserved time in the spotlight,” Spencer explained.
“We’ve decided to save some of our most eagerly-awaited future titles for Gamescom in August. Rest assured that titles like Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound will be front and center at Gamescom along with new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10.”
While it's nice to see Gamescom getting some attention from Microsoft, it will be interesting to see what the focus of their E3 event is if they are pushing exclusive games to another event. Do they really have that many games or will their be a big focus on other aspects of their platform?
