Final Fantasy XV was the focus.
Ten years ago, we were introduced to the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, that was to be headed by the (disappointing IMO) Final Fantasy XIII. The odd thing about it was that many fans were actually more intrigued by one of the spinoff games, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Versus became the stuff of legends as years would go by without a word.
Year after year, the game would continually miss E3 conventions while desperate fans would take the forums declaring that this would be the year (and damn that Xbox 360 for ruining the game's development cycle….a train of logic many of them actually had). And of course, it wouldn't show, and then they'd pretend like they knew it all along like most people on the internet do.
Until finally (FINALLY) in 2013, that magical Sony Press Conference unveiled a game many had thought dead. It's been a fair amount of time since then, and as the developers have promised, Final Fantasy XV is releasing this year on September 30, 2016.
Now in its final E3 appearance, Final Fantasy XV is putting the finishing touches on its promotion, with an extensive stage demo at the Microsoft E3 presser (seen above), a small Chocobo focused trailer at Sony's E3 Press Conference, and a more in-depth Active Time Report following the Sony show.
Ten years is a long time for anything, but none of that will matter if Final Fantasy XV is the epic we've been waiting for. And by all accounts, Square Enix needs it to be.
