E3 2016: Major revamps announced for FIFA 17 gameplay during EA play

FIFA 17's official reveal at EA Play handed football fans across the world a first-look at the revamps made to gameplay in FIFA 17.

As expected, EA Sports unveiled a number of brand new features within a video package, which included some discussion of the game moving towards a brand new Frostbite engine, while the addition of a brand new game mode also revealed.

But it was the massive overhaul to physical play, player intelligence and chance creation that captured the eyes of the EA Play audience. The trailer that you can see below includes new and improved graphics, different commentary and some more features that have been added to FIFA 17.

Check it out:

EA Sports' Peter Moore announced the developer's focus on competitive online play. Moore promoted EA's new Premier Series and EA majors, where players can come together with big stakes, big opportunities and what he described as "big pay days."

But at the heart of FIFA 17's play comes a new engine. There have been reports and speculation suggesting that FIFA 17 would move away from Ignite, adopting a Frostbite engine instead. Well, these reports were confirmed at EA play and in the game's recent trailers.

If you haven't saw them already, EA Play showcased promotional material that included the game's new cover stars. They include; Eden Hazard, Marco Reus, Anthony Martial and James Rodriguez, with the quartet replacing Barcelona's Lionel Messi at the helm. Messi's contract with EA Sports expired earlier this year, which marked an end to a three-year deal with the developer.

FIFA 17 will be available on September 27th in North America and September 29th for the rest of the world. It will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
