After From Software announced their intentions to move away from the Dark Souls series, the Nioh demo was a just the thing to fill the gap It shamelessly lifted a lot of Dark Souls' style, but added enough to be its own thing. What really stuck out though, is the fact Nioh is much, much less forgiving than Dark Souls, with a heavy focus on combat prowess similar to Ninja Gaiden, to the point that even hardcore Souls fans were crying for a nerf.
Koei Tecmo claimed they were making adjustments, and soon we'll see how they play out: Nioh is getting a Beta demo in August. To whet your appetite for the PS4 exclusive until then, check out the new gameplay trailer, complete with new weapons, areas, monster, bosses, and NPCs. It also makes it painfully clear you're going to die:
