E3 2016: Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun shows off its isometric gameplay

Travel back in time to feudal Japan, Daedalic Entertainment brings back a classical genre with their new E3 gameplay trailer for Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is set in 1615, the Japanese Edo period, and follows a new Shogun's rise to power who "strives to bring peace to the realm." Along with him in the battle against the rebellion who is threatening peace in their time the Shogun has five specialists with "extraordinary skills for assassination, sabotage and espionage", they all have their own unique abilities and skills, suitable for different tasks.

"One part of this team is Hayato, an agile ninja, who clears the way through his enemies silently with a sword and shuriken. The Samurai Mugen is a bit more violent and can defeat more fiends at one time, but therefore, he’s forfeiting flexibility. Aiko is a master of camouflage when she distracts enemies as a Geisha, and the street child Yuki places traps and decoys the enemies towards their deadly fate. However, Takuma counts on his sniper rifle and takes care of the enemies from a distance."

From the looks of it, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun will bring back the real-time tactics with stealth elements genre, like Desperados from 2001. There will be thirteen challenging missions played from a free moving isometric camera perspective and players have to masterfully mix and combine their specialists to be able to finish the game.

All this will be experienced in the beautiful Edo period Japan. Check out the gameplay trailer above for a taste of what's to come.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun will release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC and is scheduled for Q4 2016.
