As one of the biggest Spider-Man fans of all time, someone who cried during his appearence in Captain America: Civil War, I actually lost my mind when Spider-Man came on the screen at the Sony E3 press conference.
That's right, a new Spider-Man game is in the works and this time it's in Insomniac's hands. Not Sucker Punch like the rumors pointed to, and not Activision. The folks behind Ratchet and Clank and Sunset Overdrive have taken the reigns on making the game for the iconic hero. The plot remains a mystery, but we can confirm it's a standalone story, not a tie-in to the upcoming Spider-Man film. The gameplay looks beautiful, and it is everything a Spider-Man game should be. We also see an upgraded version of the suit we saw in Captain America: Civil War, and this will probably be similar to the suit we see in Spider-Man: Homecoming which starts filming this month.
There is no date yet for the game, but the film releases next June so we will probably see it around that same time. The game is also confirmed to be a PS4 exclusive.
