Ubisoft kicked off their press conference with a bang starting with Just Dance 2017 and Ghost Recon: Wildlands and went on to blow us away with other awesome demos and announcements.
This article is just a round–up or a hub for you to see each thing that happened at the Ubisoft E3 conference. To view the whole story, click on the name of the game or announcement to see the article we wrote for it.
Just Dance 2017
The show kicked off with a massive dance session with crazy outfits and Queen's Don't Stop Me Now playing. While there was no gameplay, they did announce the game will be coming to all platforms including the Nintendo NX when it releases in 2017.
Right after the hectic dancing, Ubisoft picked up right where they left off last year with a brand new cinematic trailer for the highly anticipated entry in the Ghost Recon series, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands. A developer then came out on stage and started talking about cocaine… because the game is centered around drug cartels and a special ops unit doing whatever they can to stop them from running the drugs across the country.
We then jump right into a demo where the Ghost Recon squad must find a target and extract them. The demo bounces around from stealth gameplay, to a shootout, to a chaotic car chase filled with epic moments that would make Michael Bay a very happy man.
At the very end, we finally got a release date for March 7th, 2017!
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
Matt Stone and Trey Parker came out after the Ghost Recon trailer and showed off the long awaited sequel to South Park: The Stick of Truth. The game is filled with comedy throwing punches at Marvel and DC Comic's superhero franchises, great gameplay, and amazing visuals that make it look exactly like an episode of South Park.
The comedy duo that created South Park went on to present a demo showing off the superhero powers your character will posess and what new changes they made to the turn-based combat.
If you pre-order now, you will get a free copy of South Park: The Stick of Truth on Xbox One, PS4, or PC.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will release December 6th, 2016.
Ubisoft revealed several new things coming to everyone's favorite online-only RPG, The Division.
One of the new things they showed was 3 new outfits coming with the release of the Underground expansion coming later this month. The three outfits will celebrate Ubisoft's 30th aniversary by showcasing familiar outfits from other Ubisoft franchises. The outfits will be Sam Fisher's stealth suit from Splinter Cell, a tactical outfit from Rainbow Six, and an outfit from the new Ghost Recon title.
Ubisoft also showed off two upcoming expansions, Underground and Survival. Underground will allow players to go, well underground of course! There are new threats lurking below and you must neutralize them! Each time you venture into the underground, you are thrown into a unique scenario. The expansion will be released later this month first on Xbox One and PC.
Survival will release sometime this year and will make the apocalypse even scarier. A cinematic trailer shows off a Division agent trying to survive in a terrible blizzard that has overcome New York. It's unclear what the expansion will bring, but it appears the game will introduce more survival mechanics.
Ubisoft also took a portion of their show to discuss two VR titles, Eagle Flight and Star Trek! Eagle Flight is a game where you play as an eagle with other players in a PVP environment. The demo they showed had 2 teams of 3 in Paris hunting rabbits to score goals. It appears to be a fairly intense VR experience with the ability to fly through tight coridors and shortcuts and other players right on your tail to steal the objective for their own goal.
Star Trek also looked like a great experience with previous cast members from Star Trek films and shows coming on to promote the title. The game will be set in the cockpit of the iconic ship, The Enterprise. The game will require loads of teamwork with each member of the team having certain tasks like controlling the ships shields or thrusters. The game is set to release sometime this fall.
Shortly after VR, the man with a cane and intimidating presence from the last E3 walked on stage to present a demo of For Honor. The game looks like a incredibly brutal CCQ game with deep combat mechanics instead of button mashing like a typical hack and slash game.
The game will release on the day of love, February 14th, 2017
Assassin's Creed movie
While there's no Assassin's Creed game this year, there is a movie due out on December 21st. The produce of the film came out on stage and chatted with Aisha Tyler for a bit about putting the action-adventure title on the big screen and showed some behind the scenes footage from the film.
Watch Dogs 2 was announced a week ago, and we got some small amounts of gameplay during that reveal but at E3 they gave us a full blown demo. The demo showed off some of the new mechanics in the game like a flyable drone that allows you to analyze your surroundings before charging into a battle. We also get a better taste of the tone of the game, no more dark and bruting Aidan Pierce, this is a light hearted action-adventure game that is incedibly self-aware.
Watch Dogs 2 will release on November 15th, 2016
New extreme sports IP called Steep
To close out the show, Ubisoft revealed a brand new IP called Steep. The game is centered around extreme sports up in the French Alps. Players will get to glide, parachute, ski, and snowboard through the mountains while preforming cool tricks and falling on their ass. The game has an extreme emphasis on sharing your cool moments via replay systems that allow you to watch footage from the Go-Pro cameras mounted on player's heads.
The game will release sometime in December 2016
