E3 2016: Xbox Play Anywhere will make some Xbox One games available to play on Windows 10

Microsoft has officially revealed that 'Xbox One games' have become more than just for consoles, but for PC owners as well. During their E3 2016 conference, Microsoft revealed that Xbox One games will be heading to PC via Windows 10.

Xbox Play Anywhere will allow Xbox owners to purchase participating cross-platform games that will be available for download on both the Xbox One and Windows 10.

Prior to this announcement rumor have made rounds saying that both Gears of War 4 and the Halo series would be heading to PC. With this announcement, Gears of War 4 has been confirmed – but Halo has not. Here are the first games that will be available for both PC and Xbox One via Xbox Play Anywhere.

  • Forza Horizon 3
  • Gears of War 4
  • Halo Wars 2
  • ReCore
  • Scalebound
  • Sea of Thieves
  • State of Decay 2
  • We Happy Few

Phil Spencer has been talking about "unified gaming" since before March 2015, so, Microsoft's initiative to unite the PC and Xbox has been a long time coming. Microsoft has already begun taking Xbox One exlcusives and making them available on the PC, something that supports the concept of a general 'Xbox Exclusive' game – a game that isn't bound to one platform, but bound to one software (the Xbox software).
