E3 2017: Halo Wars 2 is getting a Flood-themed expansion called Awakening The Nightmare

Lost in the shuffle of Microsoft's awesome E3 2017 presser was a little announcement on Halo Waypoint about a new expansion for Halo Wars 2 called Awakening The Nightmare. The expansion will feature an all-new campaign from the perspective of the Banished, who face off against a classic Halo enemy, The Flood.

The expansion will also come with two new multiplayer leaders, two new multiplayer maps, and a new co-op mode called Terminus Firefight. Terminus Firefight is similar to a horde mode and tasks up to three players with building up bases and armies to defend against an onslaught of enemies that increases in difficulty with each wave.

Halo Wars 2: Awakening The Nightmare will release this fall for $19.99 on both Xbox One and Windows 10.
