E3 2017: Nintendo will once again forego hosting a ‘large-scale’ press conference

It's not like there was much doubt, but Nintendo has officially announced that they will not be hosting a "large scale" press conference this year at E3 2017. The news came from the company's latest financial results briefing, They did not reveal what exactly their plans were, only saying they would do so at "a later date."

If history is any indication, another Nintendo Direct livestream is the likely route the company will take, and with Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 being the closest of their big games on the horizon, expect a ton of focus to be on them. With the Nintendo Switch surging in sales, it would seem prudent for Nintendo to keep pushing the new console, and with the unannounced games still on the horizon, E3 would be the time to show them off.

As for their handheld department, Nintendo recently revealed a New Nintendo 2DS XL, so it wouldn't hurt to pad the platform with a new game or two as well.
