E3 2017 Shadowrun Returns Devs Brings BattleTech to PC With Tactical Combat

Turn-based tactical RPG BattleTech announced from Harebrained Schemes

From the creators of Shadowrun Returns, an announcement arose during the PC Gaming Show about BattleTech. Harebrained Schemes has Kickstarted and announced their new title from yet another tabletop game.

BattleTech is a series about tactical mech battles. based on a tabletop game, it's now brought to the video game realm. Very reminiscent of games like Front Mission but with seemingly much more strategy involved.

From their website:

"From original BattleTech/MechWarrior creator Jordan Weisman and the developers of the award-winning Shadowrun Returns series comes the next-generation of turn-based tactical ‘Mech combat.

The year is 3025 and the galaxy is trapped in a cycle of perpetual war, fought by noble houses with enormous, mechanized combat vehicles called BattleMechs. Take command of your own mercenary outfit of `Mechs and the MechWarriors that pilot them, struggling to stay afloat as you find yourself drawn into a brutal interstellar civil war. Upgrade your starfaring base of operations, negotiate mercenary contracts with feudal lords, repair and maintain your stable of aging BattleMechs, and execute devastating combat tactics to defeat your enemies on the battlefield."

The game features realistic mech combat. They're not just giant units with tons of health points. Different parts can be attacked and eventually broken. For example, a mech's arm can be disabled while still having full armor on their mech's core, making decisions on where to attack even more important.

Environment also makes a big difference, as elevation and surroundings change the way a battle will take place.
