E3 2017: Star Wars: Battlefront 2 gets epic gameplay reveal trailer, details on single player campaign

Yeah, Battlefront 2 is going to be bigger….much bigger.

After getting revealed to the world back in April, E3 2017’s EA Play show gave us our first comprehensive look at Star Wars: Battlefront 2 in action, and boy does it look fantastic. EA delivered their promised 40-player multiplayer match that showed off the city level of Theed, which hails from Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. The game was an Assault/Defend mode which saw the Droid Army of the Separatists attempt to take the capital of Naboo while the Clone Troopers of the Republic fought them back.

Ahead of the match, they revealed a trailer showing off snippets of the match including the very first gameplay.

Here’s the debut trailer:

The game has obviously improved, both regarding its scale and breadth of content, which is promised to be three times as much as DICE’s first go-around at Battlefront. It’s clear that DICE is emphasizing a cross-era approach to its gameplay as well as we got a look at both the prequel trilogy’s Darth Maul and the new trilogy’s protagonist, Rey.

Part of Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s expansion of content includes the addition of an actual single player campaign which casts players into the role of an imperial commando of the Inferno Squad, in the aftermath of the destruction of the second Death Star and the deaths of both The Emperor and Darth Vader. Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren will also be playable in the campaign as well.

The campaign's story mode will also help bridge the gap between the end of Return of the Jedi and the begging of The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 releases on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on November 17th, 2017.
