E3 2017: Ubisoft announces ‘Skull and Bones’, open-world multiplayer Pirates game

Ohhhh. Oh yes.

Not to be outdone by Microsoft's pirate game, Sea of Thieves (which is due in 2018), Ubisoft took to E3 2017 to announce their own pirate game, titled Skull and Bones.

Skull and Bones is about the Golden Age of Piracy and features a customizable pirate experience where you can choose your captain, recruit your crew and build deadly ships in a shared open world that reacts as you plunder rich trade routes. The game will allow you to play solo or create groups with other players.

You can watch the cinematic trailer above!

Here's the official description:

It is the Golden Age of Piracy. Renegade captains command the most powerful weapons on Earth: warships. You are a pirate captain who has refused the king’s pardon and sailed from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, an untamed frontier full of lavish riches. However, these waters are also a battleground where far-reaching colonial empires, powerful trading corporations, and ruthless pirate gangs clash. In order to survive, you will have to build a lethal fleet, prey upon lucrative trade routes, and ally with other pirates in your endless struggle for supremacy.

It was noted in the presentation that the game will feature PvP zones (like The Division) where players can face off. The presentation showed off a 5v5 battle, which you can see below:

Skull and Bones is set to release fall 2018 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
