E3 2018: CD Projekt RED shows Cyberpunk 2077 in-engine Trailer

Night City awaits you

Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference today ended with a big bang. Polish development studio CD Projekt RED hijacked the conference at the last minute with a flashy hacking scene and showed the world a look at their highly anticipated new role-playing-game Cyberpunk 2077. Check out the trailer!

The highly stylized trailer blew the minds of viewers with its depiction of a future mega city, drenched in the titular cyberpunk atmosphere, with all that it entails from shady districts, criminals and the poor all the way to futuristic tech, cyborgs and rich business men. While being an audio-visual treat, Projekt CD RED made sure to let viewers know that the trailer is in-engine footage but not in-game. So, while the end product is likely to look stunning, we will have to wait if the lofty goals of the trailer will be achievable.

Projekt CD RED garnered the favor of gamers and critics worldwide with their 2014 hit The Witcher 3, so we can expect mature themes, a vast game world with hundreds of hours of gameplay. According to hidden messages inside the trailer Eurogamer found, we learn more about Cyberpunk 2077. There won’t be any microtransactions, DLC will be “nothing less than what you got with Witcher 3, the game will be purely single-player and you will be able to create your own character. Very interesting details for sure.

The Xbox website described Cyberpunk further in detail in their recap post on their website. According to their info, players will assume the role of V, a hired gun in an open-world city called Night City. As a rookie hired gun, you will delve into a world of cyber-enhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate lifehackers.

Sadly, no release date was given for the ambitious RPG, despite the initial reveal being over 5 years ago, but we hope the wait won’t be too long.
