E3 2018: Dying Light 2 officially announced; Heavy focus on RPG elements

It takes place the 15 years after the first game.

Dying Light was one of the biggest surprises of this generation. It took the tiring zombie genre and put a great twist on it with fast gameplay, parkour, and an expansion that added cars and more. Now, Dying Light 2 is going to take that formula and blow it up.

Dying Light 2 will take place 15 years after the first game and focus heavily on being an RPG with lots of choices that can change how the in-game world lives. Acclaimed RPG developer Chris Avellone (Fallout: New Vegas) is heading up the game’s story which will seemingly be getting rid of the first game’s protagonist Kyle Crane. The world has gone back to a new era of the “dark ages” and you’re the determining factor on if humanity caves in on itself.

You can make sure the city is stable by attempting to negotiate peace between factions, deliver resources to civilians, and more… or you can bring out a city of chaos that rebels against the militant police.  The choice is yours.

And that’s just during the day… the night is when all hell breaks loose and the zombies come to make things even worse. You can check out the new trailer below.

It looks like there will be new innovations to the movement with the ability to swing on ropes, use a knife or some sort of blade to slide down posters and thin billboards, and much more. We’ll see just how big of a difference it all ends up making and if drivable vehicles make a return.

Dying Light 2 has no release date as of right now but will release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
