E3 2018: Fallout 76 gets extensive info blowout; Releasing November

Fallout is one of the biggest franchises in gaming and it has maintained that status by being a pretty solid single-player series that evolved from a top-down RPG to a first/third-person RPG over the course of a couple decades. Now, the series is taking its next big step with Fallout 76.

In Fallout 76, you’ll be playing as a Vault-Tec employee sent out to rebuild society 20 years after the bombs dropped. You’ll team up with other Vault-Tec employees (real players) to either survive together and rebuild or be a thorn in the side of other players by destroying their stuff, killing them, or… nuking parts of West Virginia.

You can build, clear out infestations of disgusting new creatures like giant mutated sloths, and more. It’s all up to you and if you really don’t want to team up with others, you don’t have to. The world is always online and you’ll still be able to be pestered by others but you can make an active attempt to do your own thing in some corner of the world if you wish.

So, about that nuke thing. There are missile silos left in West Virginia that can be activated to destroy player encampments, get rid of monsters, or just for the hell of it. Going to explore the fallout of these places is dangerous but you will be rewarded with rare resources and more should you choose to venture deep into the nuclear aftermath that you caused.

Fallout 76 will also feature a photo mode for you and your friends to pose in when you’ve taken down a massive behemoth, built an impressive settlement, or whatever else tickles your fancy.

When Fallout 4 launched, Bethesda built a real-life version of one of gaming’s greatest gadgets, the Pip-Boy! It came in a pretty expensive collector’s edition but Bethesda wanted to top themselves with Fallout 76. This time, you can get a real life, wearable Power Armor helmet, a glow in the dark map, and some digital goodies with Fallout 76’s collector’s edition which will set you back a clean $200.

Fallout 76 will launch on November 14th, 2018 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. A beta will also be available sometime before release.
