Nintendo’s E3 Direct Broadcast today, had a second game announcement with Daemon X Machina. A fast-paced mech action game by Marvelous, set to arrive this year on the Nintendo Switch.
Viewers were hit at full speed, when Nintendo’s new action game was shown today, at their E3 Direct. Developer Marvelous set the tone they are aiming for immediately, with a heavy metal track playing and mechs blowing each other apart, right from the get-go.
From what Nintendo shared on their E3 announcement blog, Daemon X Machina will feature fast-paced mech action, which are called Arsenals. Nimble, fast and highly destructive mechs, which fly through the air and zoom on the ground, while avoiding enemy projectiles and missiles. The little snippets reminded us partly of the Armored Core series, only on steroids.
This makes a lot of sense, since Kenichiro Tsukuda, who previously was a producer for Armored Core games, is working as the producer on Daemon X Machina. In fact, the development team behind this new game is boasting some impressive talent. Character designs are helmed by Yusuke Kozaki of Fire Emblem fame and the concept design of the mech is being handled by legendary Shoji Kawamori, who has worked on the massively popular mech anime franchise Macross, Patlabor, Ghost in the Shell and many more. He also worked previously on the Armored Core games.
Other big names of the development team include Junichi Nakatsuru and Ryo Hamamoto producing the music. Nakatsuru did the music for Soulcalibur games and Hamamoto for the Tekken series previously. As game directors, Ken Awata and Ken Karube who worked on the Monster Hunter series, have set themselves the ambitious goal of “making Daemon X Machina the best mech action game out there”, according to Nintendo’s blog post.
What could usually be discarded as lofty PR wording, does sound very realistic this time though, seeing the very promising pedigree of creative talent. With release set for sometime this year, we’re sure to receive more info on Daemon X Machina in the near future.
