Last year, Sucker Punch revealed their first non-Infamous game in quite some time in the form of samurai game Ghost of Tsushima. We really didn’t know what the game was at the time but following E3, we have a pretty good idea and we’re pretty thrilled with the results.
Ghosts of Tsushima is a breathtaking third-person action/adventure game that takes cues from games like Assassin’s Creed, For Honor, and the Batman Arkham franchise. The game appears to be open-world with a jaw-dropping world to explore and intense, intimate sword fights to engage in.
We see the main protagonist take on several groups on enemies with swift, elegant combat that isn’t a fast-paced hack and slash, but a smooth and slow combat system that is on par with how we’ve seen samurai fight in films. It’s not entirely clear what the plot of the game is but whatever it is, we’re damn excited to play it. You can read a basic plot synopsis below.
“In 1274, the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the Japanese island of Tsushima and slaughters its legendary samurai defenders. Jin Sakai is one of the last survivors of a noble samurai clan. To combat his overwhelming foes, he must pioneer deadly new fighting techniques–the way of The Ghost–and wage an unconventional war for the people of Japan.”
