E3 2018: The Division 2 to feature 8-player raids; Free expansions

The fate of the free world is on the line.

The Division was a pretty big hit for Ubisoft in 2016, attempting to latch on to the Destiny audience and ground that concept in reality after a virus begins wiping out America. In the aftermath of the outbreak, the world quickly descends into chaos and it’s up to you to rebuild.

With The Division 2, agents will move from New York to Washington D.C. to prevent the collapse of our nation. Ubisoft will be refining all of the concepts and mechanics from the first game for the sequel and building upon them with specialization options such as crossbows, grenade launchers, and .50 cal sniper rifles. As you continue to work on your specializations, you’ll unlock unique skills and abilities that will greatly benefit your team in combat.

One place this will be useful in is the raids coming in The Division 2. With raids, you can group up with up to 8 agents and take on intense challenges and threats. Ubisoft didn’t elaborate on what you’ll encounter in raids but one can only imagine it’ll be a headache as is expected with these kinds of missions.

Ubisoft also plans to support The Division 2 for years to come with free expansions. In the first year alone, players will be able to access three pieces of DLC for free. No season pass, no paid content updates. It’s for everyone, no more dividing the player base. Ubisoft didn’t go into too much detail about what’s included in each expansion but it’ll likely be pretty substantial updates.

The Division 2 also got two brand new trailers at E3, you can view them down below.

The Division 2 launches on March 14th, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
