Fallout 76 was a… slightly controversial game. Ok, that’s putting it very lightly, people did NOT like Fallout 76. It was critically slammed for lacking what people love about Fallout and also just not feeling like a complete product at all.
That said, Bethesda has been listening carefully and they’re adding some really great stuff. As soon as this week, players can check out the Nuclear Winter update sneak peak. This will see 52 players duking it out in a battle royale mode filled with hostile players, monsters, and nuclear bombs.
So, what’s the endgame? Becoming the Overseer of a vault and getting glorious loot! The update is not officially releasing this week but you can try it along with a free trial for all of Fallout 76 that will run from June 10th – 17th.
Looking to the future, Bethesda will release another free update for Fallout 76 this fall which includes everything fans have been asking for. We’ll be getting NPCs who you can talk to via the traditional dialogue tree, choices and consequences, and an all-new main quest line.
“One year after the opening of Vault 76, other humans have returned to Appalachia. Factions of Settlers and Raiders aim to make the world their own and claim a rumored fortune. Embark on a new main quest of choice and consequence, interact with characters and their unique stories, discover the faction settlements of Crater and Foundation, and collect powerful new weapons and armor. Your choices decide their fates,” reads the YouTube description for the trailer.
We’ll have to see just how all this gets incorporated into an online world but Bethesda looks to win back any lapsed fans.
Fallout 76 is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
