E3 2019: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition for Switch

An unexpected port is headed towards the Nintendo Switch with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition. As the name already alludes, the ambitious handheld port will feature all existing DLCs and is set to come out this year already. Watch the trailer below!

Owners of Nintendo’s current handheld-home console hybrid Switch have been enjoying a very pleasant E3 this year, with plenty game announcements and new details on known titles. Despite being heavily rumored for a while, many gamers simply weren’t convinced that the massive open-world adventure-RPG The Witcher 3 could even technically be ported on the Switch.

While Nintendo’s new gaming system is able to produce great gaming experiences with nice visuals, an ambitious titles like The Witcher 3 is already demanding for much more powerful systems like the PS4 and the Xbox One. But the madmen over at CD Projekt RED have somehow managed to pull of the impressive feat, and sometime this year Switch owners will be able to enjoy the RPG masterpiece on the go.

Winner of over 250 Game of the Year awards, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a story-driven, open world adventure set in a dark fantasy universe. The Complete Edition contains every piece of downloadable content released for the game, including two massive story expansions: Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine. It’s the perfect opportunity to enter this world for the first time or relive the adventure — on the go!

As we learn from Eurogamer, the port’s visual fidelity won’t be chopped too drastically either. In portable mode, The Witcher 3 will run at a passable 540p resolution and in docked mode at 720p. Obviously, this is paired down considerably from both the PS4 and Xbox One but it’s still impressive that a handheld can even run the game at all. Furthermore, in handheld mode the resolution should be perfectly fine seeing the Switch’s display is 6.2 inch large.
