Today, EA revealed EA Access, a new service exclusive to Xbox One that allows members access to "The Vault" for just a small monthly subscription.
For $4.99 a month (or $29.99 for the year), subscribers will be able to play an "evolving collection" of EA games on Xbox One. Since the program is technically in beta right now, only four games are available initially: FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2 and Battlefield 4, "with more to come in the future."
Other perks to being an EA Access member include a 10% discount on EA digital purchases on Xbox One and early access to upcoming EA games. You'll also be able to download upcoming EA games five days before the release date to play "for a limited time." The selection right now is limited to Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA Live 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but again, EA promises "more to come."
EA says trials will be different for each game and any progress you make will carry over so you can pick up where you left off on launch day. "In some titles you’ll be able to play one of the game's modes for a limited time, while other times you can jump right into the full game," the company explained.
Memberships for EA Access can be purchased on Xbox One through Xbox LIVE, and at retail stores like GameStop. EA will announce the launch day for EA Access "soon," but did say that you'll be able to become a member this summer. EA Access will be available to all Xbox One owners in North America, Europe and Australia. EA made no mention of the service coming to PlayStation 4, but we've reached out anyway.
