EA and Visceral deny Dead Space cancellation rumors

Yesterday, a "report" from VideoGamer claimed that development on Dead Space 4 was ceased after lower than expected sales of Dead Space 3. It turns out those rumors were completely false as EA and Visceral Games took to Twitter to clear any confusion.

"The reports of our death were greatly exaggerated," Dino Ignacio, UI Lead at Visceral Games, tweeted. "Please stand by."

Ian Milham, creative direct at EA and ex-art director on Dead Space 3, also denied the rumors, tweeting: "Almost nothing in that article is true. I confirm nothing except the hooey in that story."

Dead Space 3 came under fire during production because of a more action-focused direction. Despite the criticism and lukewarm reception, Dead Space 3 actually went on to become the biggest launch of 2013 in the UK (as of February 11). However, compared to Dead Space 2, launch sales were down 26.6%.
Last month, EA confirmed layoffs at both the Los Angeles- and Montreal-based studios. As far as Visceral being shut down completely, that doesn't appear to be the case.
