EA: EA Access games won’t disappear once added, will include triple-A titles

EA COO Pete Moore today addressed one of the more damning gaps in the company’s approach to EA Access, their Xbox One-exclusive, Netflix-lite digital library: Games will not disappear from the Vault.

“New game additions will be determined by franchise and timing,” Moore told CVG. “We have to make decisions along that way, so there’s no template, like 30 days after a game ships it goes into the vault.” He noted that this rule will not preclude triple-A titles, and that the Vault will be “substantial" in that regard. Dragon Age: Inquisition, in particular, stands out as a big-name include.

“I think one of the key things is that once a game goes into the vault it stays there, it’s not going to be taken out, that’s a commitment we’ve made,” Moore added.

The publisher also recently confirmed that Xbox Live Gold will not be required for EA Access. However, multiplayer functionality for games within the Vault will be barred by Xbox Live.

It seems Activision has its eye on the digital distribution method as well: The company has said they will consider pursuing an online subscription “once those models are proven,” suggesting EA Access’ success may make or break their decision.
