Xbox One and PS4 have collectively moved 60 million units according to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen.
As GameSpot reports, Jorgensen spoke at the recent Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, where he discussed EA’s reticence toward investing in VR. The main blockade for VR development, he said, is the current install base for PS4 and Xbox One, a mere 60 million users to the PS3 and Xbox 360’s 150 million.
Jorgensen made similar comments earlier this year. In January, the CFO estimated combined PS4 and Xbox One sales to be 55 million, a figure which, going by Sony’s first 2016 sales report showing 35 million PS4s sold, put Xbox One sales at roughly 20 million.
Neither Sony nor Microsoft have released updated sales figures for some time, but as it stands, it is reasonable to assume Xbox One is 10-13 million units behind PS4.
Jorgensen’s estimate comes on the heels of a lofty prediction from research firm DFC, which believes PS4 will sell 100 million units in its lifetime.
