EA ‘feeling very good’ about Star Wars Battlefront

Despite a rather solid showing at E3 last month, there's some worry that the highly anticipated Star Wars Battlefront won't be ready by its November ship date. Given the rocky history surrounding Battlefield launches these past two years, the notion that Battlefront will suffer a similar fate isn't exactly out of left field. Though EA has repeatedly shot down rumors of a delay, the company was once again asked about it the possibility during its recent earnings call.

"We're feeling very good about the game right now," EA's Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson said. "Again, as a reminder, this is a tried and true development team building on the Frostbite engine that's now launched a number of products on this platform generation, and we're coming on the third phase of development on this generation of products."

"So we feel like we have put all of the things in place that we need to, to deliver a great product," he said, adding that "the quality is high, and the feedback so far from the player base has been very positive."

Adding to Wilson's statement, EA's Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen reiterated, "Just to clarify, there's no change obviously in ship date on that whatsoever. We're very confident that we should be able to hit that date."

Star Wars Battlefront has a release date of November 17, 2015, and will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. With Gamescom taking place next week, EA plans to show off the newly revealed Blast mode — a 10v10 deathmatch where the first team to 100 kills (or the leading team when the timer ends) wins. At E3 last month, EA showed off some lengthy multiplayer gameplay in the form of Walker Assault, and also gave us a look at one of Battlefront's co-op Missions, Survival.
