EA is developing games for the Wii U, just not as many as for Xbox and PlayStation

Turns out Electronic Arts is developing games for Nintendo's Wii U. After previous reports, stemming from EA spokesman Jeff Brown, sparked controversy surrounding the developer/publisher's stance on Wii U game development, EA has pulled an about-face.

Speaking at the Stifel Nicolaus 2013 Internet, Media and Communications Conference, EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen clarified that the company is making games for the Wii U; however, the number will be far less than what EA will offer to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Heck, the Wii U will miss out on 15 games alone due to system's inability to handle the Frostbite 3 engine. EA has already confirmed that neither Madden NFL 25 or FIFA 14 would be released on the Wii U this year.

"I think Nintendo's business was more [an] extension of their last console," Jorgensen said. "I think what the consumer will find is a lot more powerful gameplay with the new boxes that are coming out, and a lot of excitement, but it'll remain to be seen as to the services associated with those as to how consumers decide which direction they might want to go."

It'll be interesting to see if EA uses any of the time at their E3 press conference to show off any future Wii U titles. Why should they though? If Nintendo refuses to commit to an E3 conference, why should EA bother to use any of theirs for the Wii U?
