Voting for the cover athlete of this year's Madden NFL game is officially underway. This year's installment of the popular football franchise is appropriately titled Madden NFL 25 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Emphasizing this key milestone, the annual Cover Vote is composed of two brackets, 32 new-school NFL stars and 32 old-school NFL Legends.
In each matchup in the opening round, you'll need to vote between a new-school star and an old-school legend. On a personal note, I'm a little biased towards the legends. Who doesn't want to see the old-time greats on the cover? We're talking Terrell Davis, Jerry Rice, Troy Aikman, Sterling Sharped. You just don't get players like that these days.
"Madden NFL 25 will be a culmination of 25 years of innovation when it launches in August and there is no better way to honor our incredible history than by engaging our fans in the ultimate debate of old school vs. new school," said Anthony Stevenson, Senior Director of Marketing at EA SPORTS. "Our fans' passion has built the Madden NFL franchise into what it has become, so it's only fitting that they decide who should be the face of this special year of Madden NFL; whether it be one of the NFL's brightest young stars or an all-time legend of the game."
Voting officially begins today. Be sure to cast your vote over at ESPN.com and tune into SportsNation every Wednesday at 4pm ET on ESPN 2 to get the weekly results of the Madden NFL 25 Cover Vote. The winner of each bracket will move on in the competition up until the final athlete is selected on Wednesday, April 24.
Let us know who you think should be on the cover of Madden NFL 25. As a Cowboys fan, my vote goes to Troy Aikman!
