EA officially announces the return of SimCity

It's official: The famous city-building video game series, SimCity, is returning to PCs in 2013.

Maxis is developing the game, dubbed simply "SimCity" for now, with a veteran team consisting of SimCity 2000 and SimCity 4 designers. The game will be in full 3D for the first time, feature curved roads, and introduce "Social Flow"—a component that determines how your city affects other cities.

The developer started the series with the original SimCity back in 1989 and has worked on many of the other games.

The announcement was made at GDC.
