EA/Origin Access, the Subscription-based EA Platform, Possibly Coming to More Consoles

EA Access on PS4? Switch?

Last night, Electronic Arts had their post-earnings conference call. During this call, EA suggested to investors that Origin Access/EA Access may soon be launched on additional platforms.

EA Access and Origin access are currently available on Xbox One and PC respectively. These subscription programs allow users to play any of the EA titles enrolled in the program for one monthly fee.

CEO Andrew Wilson had this to say:

"As these communities and many others in our top franchises continue to thrive, our subscription services like EA Access and Origin Access are bringing more players from across our network to join in. Our subscription player base continues to grow. And you should expect us to continue driving this model to more platforms going forward."

CFO Blake Jorgensen continued:

"Subscription obviously is very important to us. We’ve been doing a lot of work on Origin Access and EA Access. And as Andrew mentioned, you’ll most likely see those on other platforms. And you’ll most likely see additional content coming into those subscriptions and some exciting things to come there. But we believe that’s a very important way for more consumers to enjoy more games over time at a very reasonable price."

This statement is particularly interesting, as Sony has previously rejected EA Access for the PS4. Unless they've changed their minds about the subject, this could only mean that EA is targeting another console: The Nintendo Switch.

It's possible that they're aiming to put EA Access on Switch, but there aren't many EA games on the platform yet. Neither of these options make a ton of sense with the information given. Do you use EA/Origin Access? How do you like it? Where do you see it going next?
