EA outlines Star Wars Battlefront’s free and paid DLC

With all the talk surrounding Star Wars Battlefront's DLC swirling about the internet, Electronic Arts has finally released some official details. In a blog post detailing the road ahead, EA shared its plans for both free and paid DLC for the game.

Free DLC

In addition to this month's update, coming tomorrow, EA will continue to add more free content to the game.

January

Tomorrow, Star Wars Battlefront will receive its first free content update. It will include new Hoth-themed outfits for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo when played on Hoth. These were unlocked by completing the Heroes' Holiday community mission last month.

Also, EA is adding the ability to create Private Matches and introducing Daily Challenges and Community Events. EA hopes this will rally the community around certain goals and objectives, giving players the chance to earn credits and unlocks even faster. The Tatooine Survival map — officially called "Raider Camp" — will support Blast, Droid Run, Hero Hunt, Drop Zone, and Heroes vs Villains multiplayer modes.

February

Starting in February, a new Survival mission on Hoth and a brand new Hoth multiplayer map supporting the "larger" game modes such as Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron, and Turning Point will be made available. Speaking of Turning Point, EA will be making this mode available on all maps that currently support Walker Assault and Supremacy in the February update.

March

In March, EA will be releasing a map on Endor that will support Walker Assault, Supremacy, and Turning Point, and an additional Tatooine Survival map.

Season Pass & Paid DLC

In addition to all of the above free content, Star Wars Battlefront, as you're well aware, also has a Season Pass. This will provide players with even more content — maps, modes, Heroes, weapons, and more. The names of each of the four digital expansion packs as well as some of their contents were finally revealed.

  • Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim (March 2016) – Fight among the factories of Sullust and battle within Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine
  • Star Wars Battlefront Bespin (Summer 2016) – It's hunt or be hunted in this action-packed experience set in the Cloud City of Bespin
  • Star Wars Battlefront Death Star (Fall 2016) – That’s no moon! One of the most iconic locations in the Star Wars universe makes its debut in Star Wars Battlefront.
  • Star Wars Battlefront Expansion Pack 4 – Title TBA (Early 2017) – More details in the coming months.

Each of these expansion packs will be included with the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass, and will also be available separately.
