EA’s Need for Speed trailer is the biggest tease ever

As promised, Electronic Arts revealed their brand new Need for Speed game. Well, sort of. It was more of a teaser as the "trailer" offered only 30 seconds of footage captured in game. EA did send us a press release for the game, but it provides very few actual details.

The new Need for Speed is a "full reboot" of the racing franchise. According to EA, "the game delivers on what fans want, and what Need for Speed stands for – deep customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game."

EA has worked in collaboration with its own car culture community, Speedhunters, in the research and development of the game which means "the level of detail and real-world authenticity will envelop gamers in an exciting world to discover and enjoy in a way that only Need for Speed can deliver."

"Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we're returning it to greatness in this reboot," said Ghost Games' Executive Producer Marcus Nilsson. "Pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we've always wanted to. We're listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed."

The first full trailer for Need for Speed will be shown at E3 on June 15, 2015, presumably at Electronic Arts' press conference from 1:00pm to 2:00pm PDT. In the mean time, we must settle for the 30-second clip.

Need for Speed will launch worldwide in Fall 2015 on Origin for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. There was no mention of Xbox 360 or PS3, which doesn't come as much of a surprise considering EA's Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen said earlier this month that the developer/publisher will "slowly" start moving away from last-gen systems.
