If there's one thing that blatantly obvious with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One's generation thus far, it's that plenty of game developers are prepared to remake older games for current consoles. We have seen Resident Evil got a remake, Castle Crashers got a remake, Prototype got a remake, God of War 3 got a remake, Gears of War got a remake and plenty more remakes are on the way.
There's one developer that won't be joining in on the remake festivities and it's everyone's favorite developer – EA. Speaking with IGN, EA's COO Peter Moore revealed his position on game remakes and it goes against what other developers are doing.
“It feels like pushing stuff out because you’ve run out of ideas.
"We’re a company that just likes to push forward. For a lot of companies, remakes are a way to drive revenue. It’s sub-cost, it’s an IP that’s there, you can remaster, and that’s great. We don’t do that here. I don’t think that’s ever been in our culture.”
EA can say they are doing remakes, because they really don't have to be making any remakes. A variety of Xbox 360 EA games will be coming to the Xbox One via backwards compatibility – which saves them from having to push forward with remakes.
If their games weren't headed to the Xbox One, they might have been singing to a different tune.
