It looks like EA Motive is having a busy year, after one studio merger and the game they were working on getting moved to a new studio, it turns out that they have been secretly at work on another title.
In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that the EA Motive studio is working on an unannounced action franchise that will feature never before seen "interesting" gameplay.
"We have a team in Montreal that is building a brand new action franchise, probably for our Fiscal [Year] 2021 that also looks fantastic and very exciting. A new game, with a lot of new interesting gameplay that I don't think anyone's ever seen before."
EA Motive was working with Visceral on the Star Wars game that was being headed by former Naughty dog dev Amy Hennig. That Star Wars game has moved to EA Vancouver and it's unclear if Motive is still working to support that game.
In addition to that, Motive gained new employees from BioWare Montreal, which merged with Motive earlier this year after Mass Effect Andromeda released to less than stellar reviews.
"Action is clearly the place we're missing the most," Jorgensen explained, "and the reason we're building Anthem and [Motive's] new title. That's the largest sector in gaming. It's one we haven't spent a lot of time in because we were so focused on sports and first-person shooters. We feel like there's a huge opportunity there."
It's unclear if Jorgensen is talking about the Star Wars game or a new project altogether.
