EA won’t hold E3 press conference this year; More focus on showing games

E3 is going to be far less traditional this year. For starters, we already know Sony has pulled out of the conference for the first time in decades, an unprecedented move that raises many questions for their 2019 line-up. Microsoft will stick to tradition with a big conference but another big publisher has announced they’re changing their usual plans.

After switching to a fan event the weekend before E3 a few years ago, EA has decided to change it up yet again by removing the press conference from EA Play. Starting Friday, June 7th, EA will begin EA Play with one of several live streams that focus specifically on the games and developer insight. These live streams will run for the first two days of the event and give in-depth focus on their upcoming games.

Saturday and Sunday will then let you, the fans, go hands-on with these games. While EA hasn’t said what games to expect, a new Need for Speed is slated for 2019, Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, probably unannounced games, and… SPORTS, BABY! The lines you can stand in while you wait for the more interesting stuff to free up (we kid).

The event will be free for all to attend but you’ll still need a ticket which will be available next month. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as we find out more details about EA Play 2019.
