Over the last few years, the rise of cryptocurrencies such as the popular bitcoin has begun dominating the internet. It is incredibly valuable but hard to accumulate in large quantities to make it truly worthwhile but soon, there’ll be a way to help rake-in and even spend your crypto savings.
New digital storefront Robot Cache is a blockchain-based digital distributor which allows users to resell games and mine for cryptocurrency to purchase new games. Users can signup today for an early access ‘Founders Club’ program which will be available in October and will grant users exclusive rewards and perks.
Robot Cache also noted that users will gain rewards from developers, publishers, and Robot Cache themselves so it’ll go beyond just some exclusive profile badges. This is definitely an interesting concept and one that, to my knowledge, has yet to be done. The idea of selling old Steam games is something that has been wanted by veteran PC gamers who have decades-old games taking up library space and would rather turn them into new games.
You’ll be able to resell games for 25% of their preowned value set by the developers/publishers with the added option of them being able to increase the percentage as well. The currency on Robot Cache is known as ‘Iron’, only time will tell how valuable it ends up being but it’s a promising-sounding service and business model that gamers will likely want to get their hands on.
No date has been given for the service other than the fact it’s launching in October but you can click here to sign up for the Founders Club program.
