Japanese publisher D3 has unveiled the surprise PC port for their insect-smashing arcade-action shooter Earth Defense Force 5. Gamers won’t have to wait long until they can get their hands on the cheesy-but-awesome shooter, since EDF5 will be releasing this Thursday, July the 11th. Watch the PC announcement trailer here!
Gematsu reports that Earth Defense Force 5 is headed to the PC very soon. According to a press release by publisher D3, the game will come out in just three days. EDF5’s Steam storepage is already up but you can’t pre-purchase it just yet.
While Earth Defense Force 5 is the newest mainline entry into the chaotic shooter series, players on the PlayStation 4 have been able to play the game since late last year on their system of choice. While day-and-date releases on the PC would have been nice, it’s still nice to see that the publisher ventures out from consoles and continues to support the PC platform by bringing their cult insect-exterminator games to it. Taking half a year to port EDF5 is quite acceptable and not too long of a wait, as well.
