Earthbound is now on the Wii U

Nearly 20 years after its Super Nintendo debut, Earthbound is available on a new platform in the West.

Not that fans ever forgot about it. There's been considerable demand over the years for the odd little role-playing game (also known as Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back) to return and for the sequel, Mother 3, to officially come to North America. Maybe Nintendo is listening because as of today, Earthbound is available on the Wii U Virtual Console for $10.

The company also made the original Player's Guide available, optimizing it for the Wii U GamePad. You can view it online as well.

Copies of the Super Nintendo version of Earthbound sell for hundreds of dollars online, so $10 is pocket change in comparison.
