Electronic Arts have finally opened the floodgates by bringing many of their Origin-exclusive PC titles onto Steam. 13 titles that were previously only available on EA’s own digital gaming client can now be bought and played on Steam. Here’s the full list of these titles:
To celebrate the return of one of gaming’s biggest publishers to Steam, there is currently a sale dedicated to Electronic Arts games on Steam. You can check it out here where every title listed above is currently being sold at large discounts of either 50% or more! Notable omissions we hope to see make their way to Steam soon are the Battlefield series and of course Mass Effect franchise. As it looks, it’s only a matter of time.
While the launch of more than a dozen games on Steam is great news, it’s only the beginning of something bigger. Not only is this the first wave of games with many more planned on coming in the near future but EA is also going to launch EA Access, their gaming subscription service on Steam, too. Every EA game is promoting it which points that it won’t take much longer until companies start selling gaming subscriptions via Steam.
This strategy shift by EA isn’t coming as a surprise as last year they already announced their plans. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order famously was the first big game by Electronic Arts that launched concurrently on Steam and Origin. And it proved to be a magnificent decision since the game went on to become one of the biggest hits on Steam last year.
