The talented folks over at The Elder Scrolls Renewal Project are hard at work on Skywind, the team’s ambitious Skyrim-inspired remaster of The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, as evidenced by the progress shown in the project’s latest update diary.
All areas of Skywind have made tremendous strides over the past year, according to narrator Daniel Hodge. For starters, the artist team has finalized all concept art and begun 3D modeling. Just as impressively, Skywind now features many fully voiced NPCs, as well as countless sound effects. What’s more, thanks to an expanded landscaping team, entire zones of the map have been completed.
Skywind is a massive undertaking, and TESR is always looking for new volunteers in 3D artistry, landscape design, sound engineering and voice work, and more. To expedite the process, a new volunteer hub has been created on the project’s official forums. It's an excellent opportunity for prospective designers to get real experience in the gaming industry and create materials for their professional portfolio.
Skywind is only possible because Bethesda formally acknowledged and allowed the project, pardoning all red tape with the stipulation that the TESR team does not sell the end product or accept donations for its development. It’s a tight fit, but then the goal of Skywind has always been original content and material, and TESR has clearly made it work for them.
Thanks, Polygon.
