Electronic Arts is celebrating the launch of Sea of Solitude with a launch trailer. The game is part of the huge publisher’s EA Originals which aims to support indie studios and their projects. The game is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Watch the launch trailer here!
It might be weird to read “Electronic Arts” and “Indie” in the same sentence, and we get that. EA is after all one of the biggest game publishers in the world, and in recent memory the company’s focus has mostly shifted to only produce hugely expensive AAA blockbusters. And while that may be true, EA has been publishing games which absolutely fit the indie moniker in recent years, like Unravel and Fe, under their EA Originals program.
The waters ahead are dark, and you can’t see far, but you always have a light to guide you. Sea of Solitude is out today – get ready to set sail with Kay, a young woman who has turned into a monster, as she navigates unfamiliar seas in search of a way to change back.
Sea of Solitude is the next in line of the EA Originals which aim to diversify the game portfolio of the giant publisher. A welcome addition to what EA has become known for otherwise. The publisher has truly worked themselves into a corner by mostly releasing annual sports titles and a handful of hugely marketed AAA games like Battlefield, Anthem etc..
Developed by Berlin-based indie developer Jo-Mei, Sea of Solitude follows the story of Kay, a lonely woman who turned into a monster. On her journey through a submerged world, she meets strange creatures and monsters, and will have to solve various challenges. The world, its inhabitants and Kay being a monster are all metaphors for real-life mental health issues.
You can play Sea of Solitude on the PS4, Xbox One and on EA’s PC store Origin right now.
