Electronic Arts to Bring the Sims Back to Medieval Times

Sims publisher Electronic Arts has announced in a press release earlier today that they are planning on bringing the franchise all the way back to the Medieval period with their upcoming the Sims Medieval. Part RPG and part Sims, players will have the opportunity to “create heroes, venture on quests, build and control a kingdom, and play every Hero Sim(TM) character in the land. Creativity will soar as players tell stories like never before full of drama, romance, conflict, and comedy.“

Instead of your usual jobs like military, science, etc. players will have a chance to choose from a variety of Medieval classes like Kings/Queens, Knights, Wizards, etc. Although the one I’m particularly interested in seeing implemented…peasant. Promising a new number of storytelling possibilities through quests, players can “[craft] a legendary sword to arranging a royal wedding, to protecting the kingdom from an evil sorcerer, to finding the fountain of youth. Every quest plays out differently depending on which Hero Sim the player is controlling. “

While this may sound like a mixture of World of Warcraft/Oblivion with the Sims, it’s pretty safe to say that this will still be the Sims. “Players can choose to customize every new Hero that comes to the kingdom, including selecting their traits and their fatal flaw. Players get close to their characters, not only sending them on epic quests, but also making sure they carry out their daily responsibilities such as healing the sick, trading for exotic goods, or forging armor.“

Although no official release date has been set as of this time, we’ll have more news for you as soon as it becomes available.
