Undead Labs has unveiled the overhauled and expanded upcoming new version of their 2018 open-world zombie game Stay of Decay 2. Called the Juggernaut Edition, it will be the first time SoD2 comes to Steam. Check out the new trailer below!
When State of Decay 2 originally came out on PC and Xbox One, Microsoft had not yet changed their stance towards store exclusivity on the PC. Meaning, the game was only available on the Microsoft Store. By nature of not coming out on Steam, many gamers simply weren’t aware or didn’t bother purchasing the game there.
But a lot has changed over the past two years and under Phil Spencer, the Xbox team has once again embraced Steam. Popular franchises like the Halo Masterchief Collection are now even available there. Undead Labs already confirmed they were following suit with SoD2 and now we know more about this new version.
The dead have risen and civilization has fallen. Now it’s up to you to gather survivors, scavenge for resources and build a community with up to three of your friends in a post-apocalyptic world – a world where you define what it means to survive in this ultimate zombie survival simulation.
First of all, the game has a new name with State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition. The subtitle is apt since the developers have put extensive work into it. An entire new map is included with the Juggernaut Edition alongside visual improvements, enhanced gameplay mechanics and bug fixes. Of course, all prior add-ons are also included.
All these enhancements aren’t exclusive to the Steam version as well. Previous owners of the game on the Xbox One and Microsoft Store can look forward to receiving the Juggernaut Edition as a free upgrade. Subscribers of the Xbox Game Pass will further get immediate access to the Juggernaut Edition when it comes out next month, March 13.
